April Events, part 7

April Events, part 7 (21-25)
Continuing the brain-storming of April Events/ Promotions. This will make more sense if you’re familiar with the earlier parts.

Straw Hat Month
Be Vigilante Against Child Abuse Month

"Ask me what’s under my hat" - It’s Straw Hat Month...you can encourage people to talk to you. Take the opportunity to tell them about your special sale in progress. Take off your hat and hand them a brochure. Kinda corny? Yes, but it opens the door.

Child Abuse is a very serious problem. No promotion can instantly eradicate the problem. I might ask the Chief of Police if there is a group that assists in the problem locally, then ask how we might help. Possibly insert their flyers into sales bags. Every child is so precious; it is very painful to think of any one of them being injured. Awareness is key in helping with this problem.

John Muir Day is a Conservationist Holiday. He is called the "Father of the American Natural Parks." If you choose to do a promotion via John Muir Day perhaps you could incorporate recycling, or park passes. The point is to attract customers. Could you give away park passes with proof of recycling?
Another thought might be an art show. Local artists are always eager to have a place to display their works. You can offer a corner to display paintings of nature. The artists come, they bring their friends, and there are PSA’s mentioning your business.
San Jacinto Day memorializes the "Fathers of Texas." The battle only lasted 20 minutes but had been several years developing. Texas emerged as the Lone Star State. A promotion around this holiday would most likely be for Texans with a Lone Star theme.
Earth Day originated to tap into environmental concerns, so we see that several April events correlate and can be combined in whatever manner you could capitalize on it from your business angle.

William Shakespeare’s Birthday is a big celebration in England, but what does that have to do with us? Nothing....necessarily....until you want it to. Want to help him with a play?

How could local plays benefit your business? Here’s a thought...invite the school students in the production to provide a mini-scene hourly and allow them to sell their tickets.
The only purpose I see for Ambivalence Day is an e-card.
