"Good Morning, Mr. Kosarvich!" He just beamed. "I always wait to see if you still remember," he said. Then he pulled his hand from behind his back and handed me a bottle of fabulous French Perfume and said "A memory for names deserves reward....you ALWAYS know me, and call me by name....and mine is such a difficult name." That was many years ago when I was a young receptionist at a paper company in Texas. When the clients came in to see the executives I enjoyed my brief visits with them. It was fun to get acquainted and discuss their interests.
So what IS in a name? Just your sole identity....who you are....that’s all! If someone calls you by the wrong name, do you notice? Well, of course! Does it influence how you feel about them? Well, of course! Why is it so hard to remember names. Probably because we aren’t paying attention - we’re so wrapped up in our own mind of turmoil. (The Dale Carnegie Course starts out with teaching people how to remember names, and how important it is.)
But what if a person remembers your name and even smiles at you? Wow...that’s nice.
That stimulates warm feelings and an immediate return smile. You just can’t help but be nice to people who are nice to you. Actually, that applies at home too. Just think about it.
Your greatest asset is YOU! To be the best You possible...to treat others with respect and kindness, to be trustworthy and honest. To CARE about other people. To really LISTEN. We are all in this world together and everybody wants the same things. We want to feel safe, respected and appreciated. It’s amazing (or is it?) what a kind word can accomplish....or saying "Thank You." That is a very valuable gift.....and kindness is even FREE. WOW!!
So what would happen if I took time to live in the present moment and be kind to those around me? Amazingly, or not, things would begin to change. The more thoughtful I am, the more thoughtful they are....they can’t help themselves! The more I acknowledge their value, the more their confidence and self-worth increases.....interesting how that happens!
The more I appreciate my staff, the harder they work. The more I praise my clients, the more clients I get. Interesting! Proves the theories in "The Science of Getting Rich" to be true.

http://DynamicMarketingConsulting.com/Inspiration.html)I once had a staff of 23....that’s a lot of people! The more I showed them my appreciation the harder they worked for me...the atmosphere was peaceful. The company benefitted, we won awards, the staff was happy and they made the clients happy, they referred other clients. It was truly a win-win-win situation. I treated my staff to unique brunches, parties, events....on me, not the company...and I enjoyed it. I was doing it to show appreciation....and they did appreciate it. And it showed in the form of more money for everybody.
I once worked for an Optometrist who gave his staff free checkups, contacts and glasses for their family as a benefit. He was shocked when I sent him Omaha Steaks with a Thank You note. He went beyond what was necessary as an employer and I appreciated it. He said in all his years none of his employees had ever even said "Thank You. Isn’t that sad? He’s never forgotten the thank you gift of steaks....and I continue to get great service.
Clients also enjoy a small token of appreciation for referring other clients. A "Thanks a Million" note is a very simple thing. A "Reward" doesn’t have to be the same thing for everyone, it can be personalized to the individual. Usually they’re so shocked, they’re sending you all sorts of new clients. As much for the recognition as the gift....don’t you think?
For staff, sales incentive contests are fun. They get to know ahead of time what they’re working toward. The competition makes it more fun. They enjoy work, they’re happier, they’re nicer to clients/customers. You get the picture, it’s ALWAYS a win-win-win situation.
Appreciation is SO important that there is a whole page on my website to give you ideas and suggestions for your business incentives, rewards and gifts. Be creative.....enjoy it yourself too.
