Resolution or Focus?

Have you made New Year’s Resolutions? Will you keep them? It seems that every year we “determine” to diet in January. Then as usual, the “best laid plans” eventually dissolve. We are left with disappointment in ourselves. That doesn’t feel good. But, if we make this a year of FOCUS instead of RESOLUTIONS, maybe we won’t be disappointed.

Why not make this our “Year of Appreciation” .... to appreciate ourselves, our staff, our clients,,,to see the good qualities and the values all around us. To FOCUS on the GOOD STUFF! And there is SO much of it. What if we finally decide to live in the present moment and enjoy it? What would be the worst thing that could happen? I’ve heard it said that life is what happens when we’re making other plans. That’s basically true! Whatever you focus upon expands - whether you want it or not! Are you focusing on what we DO want? Because.. whatever you tell a person he is, he becomes! (Have you noticed?) Tell an employee how good they are and they strive to do even better. Tell a child he is worthless...well I’m here to tell you that no child is worthless...but if he’s told that, he grows to believe it. How sad that is.

So, what if “just for today” we lived in this present moment...not going through past events in our minds and “re-hashing” what can’t actually be re-done anyway? What if we didn’t spend the day “looking forward to” retirement, or vacation, or whatever? Not thinking “I’ll be happy when...” Why not LIVE this moment, right now, in a happy, relaxed, confident, appreciative frame of mind.....(so I don’t have to mentally rehash this one too)...and helping others be confident and feel good about themselves? How much does a compliment cost? Like smiles, they’re only good when you give them away. What if? What if? And how hard would that be? Well, it might take some practice! But we can do it.

This year, let’s RESOLVE TO LIVE! Really, fully and completely LIVE...in each moment, doing the best we can, and enjoying it. That means treating customers, my staff, my family, friends, strangers, as if this is the ONLY MOMENT IN TIME THAT COUNTS....because, actually, IT IS! And just like I never have a second chance to make a better first impression, I also don’t have a second chance to re-live “this moment” to the fullest....and nobody else can do it for me! Think about it. If we ALL did that, in business, at home, everywhere.....wow!

Well, this is Business 101, and we're back to basics. We here at Dynamic Marketing Consulting are resolved to make your life better this year!
